  1. Colour scanned passport
  2. Colour scanned birth certificate and national identity card
  3. Change of name certificate (if applicable)
  4. All academic transcripts from universities/institutes/schools
  5. All academic certificate(s) from universities/institutes/schools
  6. Current / expired Australian visas
  7. Bank reference letter of sponsor (please check the minimum amount with the counsellor). A sample of the Bank Reference Letter from a sponsor can be viewed here

    You must provide evidence that you have enough funds to cover your:
    • travel costs
    • 12 months of living
    • tuition fees for you and your accompanying family members
    • school costs for any school aged dependants.
    Alternatively, you can provide evidence that your spouse or parents are willing to support you and they have a certain minimum annual income.

    #Ties to community: certificate from the organisation, photos of activities, membership cards, or organisation

    #Employment: employment letters

    #Economic circumstances: assets certificate, bank reference or bank statement, business license (NIB/SIUP), and business activity photos
  12. Proof of employment:

    Evidence of your employment history can include payslips or a contract if you are currently or recently employed. You can also attach your most recent curriculum vitae or résumé outlining both employment and study for the past five years.

    If you have been studying you can include copies of your transcripts.

    Note: You do not need to provide this if you are sponsored by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade or the Department of Defence or if you are a secondary exchange student.

  15. If under 18, fill out Form 1229 (Consent Form) and have it signed by non-accompanying parent(s) or person(s) with parental responsibility
  16. Fill out Form 956A
  17. Relationship - spou​se, de facto partner
    Evidence of your relationship with your spouse/de facto partner. This includes a certified copy of your marriage certificate, Family Book, Household Booklet or other evidence of family composition.
  18. Research Students
    If you are undertaking research in Australia, attach a copy of your research (thesis/project) topic and your curriculum vitae or résumé.

Financial Document Requirements for Student Visa (Subclass 500)

📄 Required Documents

1. General Supporting Documents:
  • Affidavit of Financial Support from your sponsor
  • Sponsor’s ID and proof of relationship with you
  • Same name affidavit (if there is any discrepancy in names across documents)
2. Income Documents (based on sponsor’s occupation):

For Salaried Employees:
  • Income Tax Returns (ITR) or Form 16 for the last 2 years
  • Salary account bank statements (3–6 months)
  • Employee ID card, salary slips, and employment offer letter
For Business Owners:
  • ITR for the last 2 years
  • Business registration certificate
  • Current account bank statements
Other Income Types:
  • Agricultural income certificate
  • Pension certificate and bank statements (3–6 months)
3. If You Are Married:
  • Marriage certificate and date of marriage
  • Spouse’s academic and employment documents (if not submitted earlier)
  • Spouse’s passport (first page, last page, and visa stamp pages)
  • Children’s passports and/or birth certificates
  • Letter of Offer for children above 5 years old (if applicable)

💰 Financial Documents

Savings Account Statement:
  • Latest 3 months
  • Source of any large deposits must be provided
  • Statement must be signed and stamped by the bank manager
Fixed Deposit Receipts:
  • Must be valid at the time of visa lodgment
  • If issued within the last 3 months, source of deposit must be provided
Education Loan Sanction Letter:
  • Must be in your name
  • Only education loans are accepted (gold/agriculture loans are not acceptable)
  • Co-borrowers must be acceptable sponsors with relationship proof
  • Loan must cover tuition and living expenses
  • Property used as collateral must be owned by parents/sponsors
  • Loan against Fixed Deposit is not acceptable
  • Property valuation report is recommended
  • Letter must be signed and stamped by the bank manager
  • Disbursement of the first semester tuition fee is mandatory, with a disbursement letter
EPF/GPF Funds:
  • Withdrawal letter signed and stamped by the relevant authority
  • Bank statement showing transfer of funds (signed and stamped)
Other Funds:
  • Funds from non-DHA-approved institutions must be transferred to approved ones

⚠️ Important Notes:
  • Acceptable sponsors: Parents and Grandparents
  • Uncle/Aunt may be accepted only if parents/grandparents cannot sponsor, with valid justification
  • Funds must be at least 6 months old or have a clear source
  • Sponsor’s annual income should be at least INR 8–10 Lakhs
  • Gold loans, agriculture loans, home loans, and business overdrafts are not accepted
  • Funds from gold sales, gifted money, or chit funds are not accepted
  • Only registered property sales are accepted (not agreements to sell)

Student Visa Cost

The visa costs from AUD2,000.00 for the main applicant (unless they are exempt).

There is also a charge for each family member who applies for the visa.
