In fact, not all Chinese universities require the CSCA test. Universities not included in the above list can be applied to without submitting CSCA results. Currently, the CSCA test is only applicable to undergraduate programs. Therefore, even for universities on the above list, if you are applying for non-undergraduate programs such as associate degrees, non-degree programs, or masterʼs and doctoral programs, China does not require you to take the CSCA test. While these universities require CSCA scores, we have confirmed that applicants are allowed to apply first and submit the scores later. This is a flexible policy that benefits international students:
- Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen (哈尔滨工业大学（深圳）)
Applicants may take the university’s entrance exam first and submit the required scores within the designated timeframe afterward. - Shanghai Jiao Tong University (上海交通大学)
Applicants are allowed to sit for the university’s entrance exam first and provide the missing scores within the specified deadline. - Northwestern Polytechnical University (西北工业大学)
NPU accepts initial applications with exam registration screenshots submitted by April 2026 at the latest. The official CSCA scores must be submitted later, with the final deadline for supplementary submission being May 20, 2026. - University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (上海理工大学)
Applicants may first complete their online application and upload a “CSCA registration confirmation/screenshot” as a temporary placeholder. However, the official CSCA score report must be submitted no later than June 10, otherwise the application will not proceed to the review stage. - Minzu University of China (中央民族大学)
The university recommends CSCA scores for undergraduate applicants, but self-funded students are still permitted to apply without CSCA scores.
